The best higher medical institution – Poltava State Medical University – PSMU started its operations in 1921 with odontological faculty of Kharkiv Medical Academy. In 1967, the Institute moved to the city of Poltava and renamed as Poltava State Medical University.In 1994 Poltava State Medical University received the highest level of accreditation – the IV. Over the last decade, the Academy held significant changes that allowed to go up to a new competitive level of training, to introduce the most advanced technology training. Evidence of this is that the Academy awarded two silver and bronze medals at international exhibitions of educational institutions “Modern education in Ukraine – 2001, 2002, 2004.” Currently, there are 3615 students, 1400 of them – foreigners from 42 countries who are studying at the Academy

The scientific potential of the PSMU is the following: 82 doctors, 316 PhDs, 75 professors, 171 associate professors, 2 Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, 8 Honored Scientist of Ukraine, 6 Honored Doctor of Ukraine.

Accommodation:

UMSA possess an excellent system of hostel accommodation. Rooms are fully furnished & consist of apartments like system with two-bed & Three-bed rooms with attached toilet. On each floor, there is a hall and a common kitchen for cooking. On the ground floor, there is a gym & recreation center. Hostel rooms are furnished with bedding, side tables, cupboards, tables & chairs. Occupants get a weekly bed sheet & pillowcase. All rooms are centrally heated. Electricians & plumbers are available on call. 

STUDENT LIFE in Campus :

Poltava is a city located in the central Ukraine on the bank of river vorska. Being located in central Ukraine Region, city is well connected to major cities like Kharkov & Kiev through rail & road. The city has also a domestic airport which has flights to all other cities of Ukraine. The city is very welcoming towards foreign nationals and people from different cultures around the world. In campus, students get the opportunity to participate in various research and scientific activities with senior professors and teachers. Students also get an opportunity to take part in various co-curricular activities organized by the university every year like sports, cultural events , talent programs etc.
